About the Call
Description:
Call to artists seeking gallery representation. This exhibition will be a welcome for new Gallery Artists. The show is not based on a theme but the best representation of an artist’s body of work and style. Ideal artists should be familiar with the services and specialties of the gallery. Artists who are open to commissions are preferred. Artworks can range from very large to very small and open to all contemporary subject matter.

Gilded Pear Gallery is a full-service contemporary art gallery in Cedar Rapids, IA. The gallery features over 70 artists (local and national) across varying media including jewelry and fine crafts. Secondary market highlights artworks by Grant Wood and other prominent Regionalist artists. Expertise and specialty services include corporate and residential art consultation-installation, custom framing, art appraisals, and more. The 6,000+ sq. ft gallery hosts rotating exhibitions on the main level and 2nd floor along with additional sales galleries.
Eligibility
Professional artists – established, mid-career, or emerging – 18 and over, living in the Midwest region of the United States can apply. Open to all two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. Time-based media will not be accepted.
Adjudication
Jurying will be conducted from images of individual works available for the exhibition. Gallerists from Gilded Pear Gallery comprise the jury panel: Suzy McGrane-Hop (owner, ISA CAPP), Lauren Tucci (Gallery Director), and Linda Ge (Gallery Assistant and Inventory Manager). The gallery will make selections for the exhibition from digital images and work statements. 3-4 artists will be selected for this exhibition and for future representation. *Artists not selected: portfolios will be SAVED for future use and put on the gallery wait list*. Particular consideration for Eastern Iowa and statewide artists, however not limited to.

Entry Procedure
Artist Responsibility
Accepted works may not be withdrawn by the artist prior to the close of the exhibition. Shipped works must include installation instructions (typed preferably), and hardware if necessary. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance to and from Gilded Pear. Any artworks arriving from an international source will be rejected.
Liability
Gilded Pear Gallery will exercise professional care in handling all entries, but cannot assume liability for loss or damage, however caused, while works are in transit. Accepted entries will be insured for wholesale cost.
Agreement
The receipt of an entry for representation will be understood to imply agreement on the part of the entrant with all conditions set forth in this prospectus. A contract will be sent to artists accepted, to sign and return to the gallery prior to shipment/delivery of artwork.

Specifications
- Submitted artworks must be ready to install (framed, proper hardware…)
- Works may be hung from the ceiling. Wall mounted works must not exceed 75 pounds – communicate weight specifics in advance. All artworks must be able to fit through a standard-sized door.
- Video/time-based media will not be accepted for this exhibition.
- All works must be for sale. The artist receives 50% of the sale. By submitting artwork, the artist agrees that images of selected artwork and the submitted text can be used by Gilded Pear Gallery for promotions and publications.
- Accepted artwork must be submitted digital entries. No Substitutions.
- All Digital Submissions. No Slides will be accepted.
- Artists planning to submit, but who are already represented by galleries in the Eastern Iowa Area: consider having ONLY one gallery.
Entry Procedure
- There is no cost to submit.
- 4-6 images of available artworks
- Images must be submitted as either .jpg or .png
- Image resolution must be 300dpi and at least 1200px on shortest side
- Label each image with Name, Title, Size, Medium/Material, and Retail Price. Label Detail Images as such.
- Artist statement, biography and CV are required. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
- Please include City, State you reside.
- Social media presence is preferred
- All written documents must be submitted as .pdf, .doc, or .docx
