  Main Gallery 
  
  Debora Stewart, PSA-MP, IAPS-MC, is a contemporary artist recognized for her evocative abstract interpretations of flowers, gardens, and landscapes. Working in soft pastel, acrylic, and oil, she layers gesture, color, and memory into compositions that capture the rhythms of nature and the essence of fleeting moments.
  
  Stewart is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and a member of the Masters Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies. She is also the author of Abstract Art Painting: Expressions in Mixed Media (Random House/2015), which has become a resource for artists interested in abstraction.
  
  Her work has been exhibited widely in galleries across the United States, and she has been
  honored with numerous awards in national and international pastel exhibitions. Stewart’s
  paintings have also been selected for invitational exhibitions in France and China,
  underscoring her international reach and recognition.
  
  As an educator, Stewart has taught workshops throughout the U.S., sharing her knowledge of
  pastel and mixed media with artists at all levels. She has also served as a juror for pastel
  exhibitions, contributed to leading art publications, and developed extensive online educational resources.
  
  Stewart lives in Iowa with her husband and miniature schnauzer. Her daily encounters with
  gardens and landscapes continue to inspire her creative journey.

  Craig is a painter primarily focused on the Iowa
  landscape, urban and rural. With influences as
  diverse as American Tonalism, Abstract
  Expressionism, and more modern painters such
  as Richard Diebenkorn and Gerhard Richter,
  Craig explores the geometry and atmospheric
  qualities of light that infuse the Iowa landscape.
  “My interest is not in expressly capturing a copy
  of what I see or to replicate a photograph. It is
  taking clues from those sources and then
  through the activity of painting, a process of
  abstracting, distilling, refining and even
  obliterating the image before me in an attempt to bring the painting into life. Ultimately I want the paintings to exist as in and of themselves and not just a record of a vision I saw. Ideally each work should leave evidence of the process in getting there.”
  
  Craig Albright was born in Sioux City, Iowa. He received a B.F.A. in Drawing at the University of Iowa and an M.F.A. at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Craig has taught painting and drawing at Indiana University, DePauw University, His works are in the permanent collection of the Figge Art Museum, Davenport, IA, Sioux City Art Center, Sioux City , IA, Iowa City Public Library, Iowa City, IA and numerous private collections across the United States. He currently maintains a studio in Iowa City, IA.

  John Preston lives in Fairfield, Iowa, but grew up on the east coast. He has been painting the Midwestern landscape since 1984.
  
  Preston's paintings primarily depict the dramatic climate of the Midwest, as well as its expansive skies and rolling fields. They often represent particular locations against a backdrop of weather events from observation, memory and where necessary, imagination. Simple, visual attraction is the central motivation, and he enjoys finding an idea in an image, rather than finding an image for an idea.
  
  Preston has exhibited nationally and is in many public and private collections, including Iowa State University, John Deere and the Chicago Federal Reserve.

  Main Exhibition
  Mary Zeran grew up in a family of women artists. Textiles, embroidery, and woodcarving, were their visual language. Abstracted shapes and forms were their words.  Each time Zeran picks up a brush or scissors, she immerses herself in the language of her family. As she abstracts flowers, trees, and all the colors of nature, she speaks her mother tongue. This language brings her closer to her family’s traditions, histories, and stories. 
  
  Zeran has exhibited nationally and internationally in New York, Seattle, and Chang Mai, Thailand. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions including “Midwest Summer: Light and Warmth”, “Into the Blue” at Cedar Rapids Museum of Art in Cedar Rapids, IA, and “2019 DUMA Biennial” at Dubuque Museum of Art in Dubuque, IA. In 2020 she was featured in a solo show at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art in Cedar Rapids, IA.
  
  She has been reviewed in The Art Examiner, Seattle Post Intelligencer, Artweek, and Kolaj Magazine. Museum collections include The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY, and Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, Cedar Rapids IA.   Ms. Zeran is the recipient of an Oregon College of Arts and Crafts Residency, and a 2% for the Arts Purchase Prize from the Visual Arts Commission in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
  
  Mary Zeran was born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1964. She received her B.F.A. and M.F.A. from University of Iowa. She lives and works in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
