Evolution of the Landscape

Kate Kunau, Associate Curator of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, spoke on the history of landscape painting and its evolution from a minor genre seen as a lessor artistic endeavor to the beloved field it is today. Kunau discussed how this historical arc of landscape art related to the the paintings on display in Familiar Territory and the forest-themed exhibition Into the Woods: the Forest as Artistic Inspiration at CRMA.
