Evolution of the Landscape: Art discussion 9/14

    A landscape to which we appreciate the most, is our vista of familiar faces in our exhibit of Familiar Territory 's.

​     Kate Kunau discussed the development of the landscape beginning as a lesser genre and how the Midwest (and it's Regionalist pioneers in Marvin Cone and Grant Wood) brought attention to the quiet loveliness that we now solicit and appreciate. 

As the Associate Curator of the CRMA brought us to the contemporary use of the landscape and the final remarks for the discussion, Lee Kimball discussed his interpretation of the landscape for his works in Familiar Territory as well as his influences and recognition for past artists. 

We allowed time for a Q&A for the speaker, however, with so many artists in the audience we opened the discussion to the influences of others: in Marty Mitchell, Kimberlee Rocca, Mary Zeran, Ellen Kleckner, as well as artists: Priscilla Steele, Nancy Purington, Bob Fox and Katie ​Baczeski.
